Where you’ll stay
Who needs expensive hotels when you can gaze out at the Manhattan skyline (with your dog, of course) from a private 1,000 square foot apartment in Edgewater, New Jersey? The apartment sleeps four, and even has a pull-out couch in the living room for extra guests. In the hot summer months, you and your pooch can relax in air conditioned rooms or bask in the heat on the enclosed porch, ice-cold cocktail in hand.

Why we love it
The apartment looks out on the edge of the Hudson River and is just steps away from easy transportation to Manhattan. The 158 bus runs 7 days a week up to 1:30 AM, and the NY Waterway Ferry runs weekdays during commuting hours.

Venture into New York City and hang out at one of the city’s many dog friendly parks or sidewalk cafes. Hoboken, NJ is also just minutes away, and home to Frank Sinatra and the Cake Boss (his bakery, Carlo’s Bake Shop, is a must-see). Grab a cupcake and cannoli to share with your dog while you’re there. Or, if you’re looking to stick around the apartment, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, a 16-screen movie theater, and the boardwalk all within a one mile radius.

What you need to know
At $109 a night, this apartment costs less than most hotels in and around New York City. The owners of the apartment ask for no more than one car on the street, but off-street parking is available if you have more. It’s important to note that this is not a country setting, so there will be some noise from neighbors and the surrounding area…the perfect spot for easy-going city pooches.

Editor’s Note: As always, we recommend that you check with the homeowner for specific restrictions on breed, size, or number of dogs allowed in the residence.
