Point Loma Seafood’s
2805 Emerson Street
San Diego, CA 92106

Casual eatery, fresh fish fare, and dog friendly vibes: Point Loma Seafood’s has been the go-to for a seafood sando with your four-pawed pal in Point Loma since 1963. Locals and tourists alike flock here, so put your order in take a seat outside while you wait a few for the day’s fresh catch. The seaside shop is an actual fish market too, so make sure to grab some filets for later on your way out.

Thanks to their proximity to the Pacific, Point Loma is in net’s reach of tasty sea creatures just under the deck, resulting in truly fresh treats. Try the clam sandwich; perfectly soft sourdough surrounds fried-to-perfection pieces like a fluffy cloud. The crab cakes are lumped sweet morsels (not filled with breadcrumbs), and the oysters come straight from the ocean each morning. Everything is paired with an appropriate amount of rich tartar sauce (a delicious homemade recipe) for dipping and dousing. They also recently started rolling their fresh fish into sushi, if you’re feeling a bit fancier. Wash it all down with a local IPA for an easy breezy beachside lunch. And for your leashed pal, there’s usually a water bowl out, but if not, just ask and the staff will happily provide one.

This place has quite the outside ambience, plus views galore. Watch the yachts dock and admire the skyscrapers in the distance; let the air tangle your tresses while Fido chases pigeons. He can mill around the outdoor seating deck next to the marina, sunbathe, and maybe catch a french fry or two.

Breathe in the salty air and sink your teeth into the delicious bounties of the sea. Your pooch will appreciate the outdoorsy feels and beg for a frolic on The Original Dog Beach.

Best for: nautical dogs, beach bums, seafood afish-ionados

Editor’s Note: Dogs are only allowed on the lower deck, while ordering is upstairs, so bring a friend to watch Fido while you order (or vice versa). Also, make sure to only feed your companion fully cooked fish
