Where You’ll Stay
If your next vacay is forcing you to choose between downtown energy and rural relaxation, dog as copilot and doggy daycare, then your sabbatical clearly hasn’t met Portland. Affectionately known as Stumptown, Rip City, PDX, Beervana…call it what you wish, the City of Roses lets you have it your way, doggy BFF and all.

Seventy miles of trails within minutes of downtown? Check. Largest independent new and used bookstore on Earth? Check. Best beer in America? Check. Mind-blowing street food? Check. And did we mention the coffee scene will make your knees shake? Now all you need is a stress-free place for your and your pooch to rest after a full day of exploring everything Portland has to offer; enter Panda Crystal Cave.

Why We Love It
This newly remodeled quintessential Portland Airbnb basement apartment has room for three, and is literally a hop, skip, and a jump from Mount Tabor. Tabor, as the locals call it, is where dogs and owners alike can trail-up in the off-leash area. Are we at a dog park or on a hike? It’s hard to say, but we like it.

City FOMO kicking in? Never fear. Even though this space rejuvenates with its privacy and meditative vibes, it’s less than two miles away from that Portland energy we know and love. Cue Hawthorne Street, where hippies and hipsters come to play and eat Blue Star Donuts before catching a flick and a beer at McMenamins Bagdad Theater.

The Panda Crystal Cave is pure Portland with locally-sourced materials and repurposed USPS boxes that double as fine art. Seriously, it’s cool right down to the magazine clippings of Obama and Michael Jackson. We won’t judge if you give in to the urge to post pictures to your Instagram.

What You Need To Know
If you need some alone time while grabbing grub at ¿Por que No? or The Waffle Window (both dog friendly joints), be sure to safely stow your furry loved one in a secure place per host request. Karri keeps an extra puppy carrier handy at all times for these situations.

Mature dogs can make it outside to the fenced backyard in a jiffy through the private basement entrance, please just make sure all business is conducted away from the strawberry plants and vegetables.

Traveling with a puppy? Not sure if your youngster can make it through the night without a bathroom break? Don’t stress. The cement floor is finished with a soy-based lacquer for easy cleanup and eco-friendliness.

Bunny is resident dog at this Mount Tabor oasis, so aggressive alfas need not apply.

Editor’s Note: As always, we recommend that you check with the dog friendly Airbnb homeowner for specific restrictions on breed, size, or number of dogs allowed in the residence.
