“Make life sweeter…Eat dessert first.” That’s Flour Bakery’s motto, and a darn good one at that. Flour started out as a petite out-of-this-world Boston bakery and is now a four-store operation, with locations in the South End, Back Bay, Fort Point, and Cambridge. All the baking is in-house and the pastries and breads are often still warm from the oven if you stop by for a morning treat. If you have an insatiable sweet tooth, then you are gonna have a hell of a time choosing which pastry to buy. While the almond croissants, muffin tops, and apple spice cakes are all tempting, the sticky buns were featured on Food Network’s Throwdown with Bobby Flay, so those ooey, gooey confections are a safe bet if you must choose just one item.
With sandwiches and salads made to order, Flour is a great place to grab a killer meal that’s low maintenance and doesn’t break the bank. Bostonians know that’s a rarity, which is why Flour is so beloved and appreciated by the locals. Equally as charming as the impeccably decorated tarts and pies are the staffers. Flour Bakery really does uphold a friendly environment, one that welcomes dogs in their outdoor seating area and offers high-quality biscuits available for purchase, as well as bowls filled with ice-cold water. All four Flour locations are in happening neighborhoods so your dog will be down to lounge in any of these trendy spots.
If you’re a gluten-free dog owner, get ready to cry with joy. Flour Bakery offers fantastic gluten-free options, both sweet and savory. Think chocolate meringue, creme brûlée, and gluten-free Oreos (because dessert first, right?). Get almost any of the sandwiches made on fresh gluten-free bread. Of course your dog is your very best friend, but definitely make room in your heart for the folks of Flour Bakery who will facilitate all your baked good needs with a giant smile.
