The Anchor
235 Main Street
Venice, CA 90291

Ultimate almost-beachside lobster (atop a Benedict, no less) and bottomless mimosas, anyone?

The Anchor steps up the sleepy side of Venice’s Main Street with a casual bistro dining experience, and (finally) serves as a place that doesn’t simply bank on its great location. Rather, it builds upon the famously relaxed, nautical neighborhood by providing fresh caught seafood, curated dishes, and hand selected beers and wines. And it creates the atmosphere seamlessly, if we do say so ourselves. Although you’ll be on the patio with Fido, make sure to take a peek inside at the tasteful ocean-inspired decor, including ropes wrapped charmingly above the bar. Reminiscent of Long Island with the seafood-centric menu, but quintessentially laidback California. Needless to say, we’re in.

The patio affords views of milling locals and visitors to the likes of you and your  four-legged first mate. And yes, it’s more than fit for your favorite meal of the day (read: brunch). To complete said favorite meal, the mimosas are refilled generously for $15. While you sip and savor, your dog will wallow in the warm welcome. Naturally, The Anchor supplies water bowls, but snacks come for your pup too.

If happy hour is more your thing (or you simply couldn’t get enough during brunch), stop by in between 3 PM and 6 PM for French oysters and beer—the patio is the perfect sunny spot regardless of the time of day. For dinner, the lit anchor atop the patio is your North Star, full steam ahead to this joint. Consider a brunch or happy hour rendezvous, then stroll down Navy (appropriately so) for a few minutes to the oceanfront walk. Prepare for sunshine, Pacific views, and next-level people watching.

Best for: seafood loving sallies, Venice Beach brunchers, happy hour hounds, dogs that are into boating
