633 Grand Street
Brooklyn, NY 11211
Got the coolest dog this side of the L train? Prove it by marching down to Lady Jay’s, the southern bar off the Grand Street stop that’s too cool to serve food and too bad ass not to have an amazing whiskey selection. The back yard at Lady Jay’s is bitchin’ because it’s dog friendly and looks like an adult-sized treehouse that you can smoke cigarettes and get wasted in. It’s doubtful that your dog is a chain-smoker, but who’s to say? With multiple levels, lots of seating and covered areas for those rainy days, there is plenty of room for man or beast to roam. There is even a small stage where this Brooklyn bar hosts live music some nights. Like them on Facebook so you get show and event updates.
Inside Lady Jay’s boasts a mean jukebox filled with classic and southern rock. With this selection, it’s hard for anyone to bum the whole bar out by picking a lame tune. The vibe is casual so your dog can go au naturel. No need for silly dog sweaters or doggy hats. This isn’t Le Bernardin, y’all.
Adding to the laid back vibe is the cool and gritty drink menu. If you’re feeling bad try the Dude Ranch cocktail—a shot of tequila laced with a mashed up Cooler Ranch Doritos. Not quite that adventurous? Then stick with the beer and shot specials or the craft beers on tap that happen to be super cheap during Happy Hour. If you go to Lady Jay’s and see a girl dancing ethereally to Sweet Home Alabama with a PBR in hand and a mutt at her feet, that’s me!
