Looking for an escape from the daily grind? Look no further than Santa Cruz. Just a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley rests the coastal mecca of laid-back surfer vibes and hometown of Jack O’Neill. Everything is relaxed about this place—the people, the pace of life, the enforcement of laws on sleeping in cars…but we digress.
Regardless of whether you’re looking for a place to cozy up with your dog and bust out some work, or a place to enjoy a cheap beer before noon without judgement, Caffe Pergolesi has you covered.
The Perg (as we like to call it) is the oldest cafe in Santa Cruz and operates in a turn-of-the-century Victorian home in the heart of downtown. Each room has a different theme, all fitting together to form a delightfully quirky hodge-podge.
Inside you’ll find ample seating, free wifi, top-notch coffee, and super friendly (but totally laid-back) employees. Outside on the porch and patio, the sun and trees filter through the perfect amount of sunlight for you to kick back and stay a while, pooch by your side.
Speaking of pooches, the Perg welcomes four-legged patrons with open arms. Inside or outside, you can spend the morning or afternoon with your best friend—and it’s likely he might make some new friends of his own. In fact, it’s rare to not see dogs patrolling the Perg, and employees are encouraged to bring their own fuzzy friends to work as well. The only caveat is that all dogs must remain leashed. So grab the leash, wrangle your beer/coffee money, and head to the Perg to chill, Santa Cruz style.
