Ritual Tavern
4095 30th Street
San Diego, CA 92104

To say that Ritual Tavern is a dog-friendly spot is like mentioning the weather in San Diego is livable.

We get it. It’s gorgeous there. You all are tan. Whatever.

But back to the Tavern at hand — this is one of our favorite spots to “chill” [see how we’re using the local vernacular, brah?] with our pet.

To start, the breeze. Perhaps it’s a byproduct of that massive remodel they did a few years back, but the breeze positioning is perfect. Speaking of the design, can we celebrate it just for a minute? Outside is 1940s American, and if the patio wasn’t built, you’d think it to be just another small building.

You walk in and there is a bar made, seemingly, by the monks themselves. Stained glass. Rose wood. Holy, holy, holy.

And the bartenders behind it know what you want, what you need, and how you’re going to like it.

Add to that a menu of snacks worthy of your money, plenty of dogs tied up outside enjoying the breeze [seriously, what’s the deal with that?], and both owners putting an emphasis on this not becoming a “bar” means we’ll be back.

Great spot.
