In the same sense that no one moves to Florida to be a better person, no one in Tulsa, Oklahoma shows up at Empire Bar thinking they’re only going to have one drink and go home. Rather, you go to Empire for a reason and that reason is not a pool game, to see friends, to listen to music, or to admire the drunken scenery that makes up the city’s famed Cherry Street.

You go to get very, very drunk.

And that’s not a bad thing. Some thing in life have a time and a place, and if they’re done in moderation, then that’s just fine.

Things like:

  • Jägermeister
  • Skateboarding
  • Kale
  • Praying to an imaginary god
  • Wicker
  • …And Empire Bar in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Now, accept the facts and know to be careful because you’re about to step inside one of the town’s Sunday Staples. Should you find yourself there in the middle of the week, then you should really seek help. But their Sunday Sessions for people who blew most of their cash the night before and are now probably paying with PayPal have been known to be a thing of beautiful disaster.

And the best part? A multi-leveled outdoor patio that allows for easy access to a cab or the McDonald’s next door.

Drinks are strong and plentiful.

The jukebox is horrible and usually dissolves into that thing Okie’s refer to as “country” but it really hasn’t been since 1993.

But it’s a blast. And you can share the fun with your dog (until 8 PM).

Stay away during the summer months of April through September, though.
