Backyard Bar at the Hibiscus
213 S Rosemary Avenue
West Palm Beach, FL 33401

While it pains us to give away this gem, the fact remains that West Palm Beach—for all of its noble efforts—is lacking when it comes to nightlight that doesn’t exist on-or-slightly-off Clematis Street.

Boys with their bulging muscles, girls with their butt implants, cars with their terrible music, and all of the aggression that could only come from someplace within close proximity to Miami.

That being said, there are a few hidden spots that exist solely for those trying to enjoy the weather, without the precipitation.

And nowhere is that more true than the Victorian hideaway that is The Backyard Bar.

Somehow affiliated—although, we’re not sure how—with a B&B, this quaint little spot offers all the charm you’d expect out of a Southern English day without the bad weather, teeth and people…but set in a Key West-like environment. The wine selection is impressive, as is the gin and tonic. And since they made our list, you can bet your four-legged friend is welcome to join you in the shade.

The best time to go is between 2 PM and 6 PM, as you’ll beat the inevitable walking tours and type of people that like to hang around outside the Publix supermarket nearby.

The Backyard Bar’s snacks also deserve a mention, as they could easily get by on the standard starch-based pub fare, but chef Alexandre insists on a menu as delicious as its décor.

Hands down our favorite place to visit in West Palm Beach, and we’re sure it will become yours too.
