Cork Wine Bar
1720 14th St NW
Washington, DC 20009
Warm weather means you get to wear shorts, tank tops, floppy straw hats, new bikinis, and sandals. But more importantly, warm weather pairs perfectly with chilled wine. It’s time to uncork those whites and rosés that have been seasonally inappropriate for the past many months. DC winos take note: Cork Wine Bar not only offers a fabulous list of varietals to wet your whistle, but they also have a great outdoor seating area that allows dogs to bask by your side.
Cork Wine Bar was created by Logan Circle dwellers Diane Gross and Khalid Pitts, who sought to open a warm place in their neighborhood where people could enjoy and learn about food and wine. Cork offers over 50 wines by the glass and more than 250 bottles. What it does not serve is typical wine bar pretension. The highly knowledgeable staff provides real, understandable information about what you’re tasting. You can also get wine flights to explore different regions and varietals.
Wine lovers agree that no glass is complete without a killer meal and Cork’s food menu does not disappoint. Choose local meats and cheeses, hot or cold, and share with the whole table (at least the ones above the table, sorry pooch). Ingredients are locally sourced, further adding to the bar’s comfort and freshness.
Another great plus is that Cork is affordable, giving you the ability to expand your prior notions on your favorite post-work beverage. Getting to include your dog in such an intimate and tasty wine experience? Even better.
