You have a decent career job, friends who are good enough to throw back a few beers with on the weekends, and a nice home in a state you love. You may or may not be single, but it’s fine either way because there’s always Tinder. Yet, despite your apparent success, there’s something missing. Ah! Yes, a dog. We’ve done our due diligence and found the perfect rescue dog for residents of all 50 states. This week, we’ve found the perfect pup-tato for your Idaho lifestyle.

…Shar Pei
What does Idaho have that no other state has? Worldwide fame for growing the very best potatoes. Because of the state’s clean air, water, and soil, it’s without competition that their potato crops rule and other potatoes drool! Speaking of drooling and potatoes, if you’re an Idahoan looking for the perfect dog, we suggest the Shar Pei. These dogs are total couch potatoes and resemble the large, brown crops for which the state is notorious. They’re low energy, super chill, and don’t mind plenty of alone time—so make room on that sectional for your new Shar Pei pal.

We’d also like to point out that Idaho is nicknamed the “Gem State” for it’s large amount of gemstones and wilderness. Similarly, Shar Peis are gems in that they are undyingly loyal dogs. If not well-trained and socialized as pups, Shar Peis can become weary of strangers. This makes them well-suited for rural states like Idaho, where they don’t have to deal with constant stranger anxiety.

We must say, Shar Pei wrinkles are insanely distinct and adorable, as are their independent personalities. Just make sure you watch their french fry intake, as they have a tendency to gain weight. Keep them on a strict diet of dry food and love. Adopt a Shar Pei today.
