2911 De La Vina Street
Santa Barbara, CA 93105
While you’ll find all the usual suspects at Los Agaves, the more unusual menu items are what really set it apart from your standard Mexican food joint. Sure, you could order an enchilada. But you should order the molcajetes with a side of quesadillas de flor de calabaza. Live a little.
Despite being an order-at-the-counter-and-take-a-number establishment, Los Agaves has a comfortable upscale vibe that’s true to Santa Barbara. Colorful Spanish tiles paired with an open-air atmosphere and whiffs of spicy chorizo will tickle your senses and make Fido drool.
So, order something—anything, you really can’t go wrong—and grab a table on the dog friendly patio out front. But before you get too comfortable, be sure to make a pass at the salsa bar. There are six house salsas to choose from—but why choose when you can try them all? Don’t hold back. You already paid and the free chips are on their way to your table.
The Los Padres mountains serve as backdrop while you enjoy your free chips and an ice cold Modelo on the patio, a gentle California breeze rustling through the palm trees. (Yes, they serve beer and wine. You didn’t think we’d leave you hanging, did you?)
Los Agaves’ De La Vina Street location is a favorite not only for its vacation-like atmosphere (in case being in Santa Barbara didn’t already feel like enough of a vacation), but also because it’s conveniently located just far away enough from the chaos of State Street. There are a few free parking spots in the back, as well as plenty of free street parking nearby.
